Reported Building Fire 148 Random Road Douglass Twp Berks County

Saturday, March 2, 2013 19:46 Station 57 along with Berks Station 49 (Amity) were dispatched for a reported building fire in the Douglass Village development. Engine 57, Traffic 57 and Traffic 57-1 responded. Engine 57 and Berks Engine 49 arrived on location and began to check the home and found a contractors propane heater running in a home in the garage area. Crews checked the remainder of the home and found nothing else evident. Chief 57 recalled the assignment @ 20:07. 

   


 

Fire Police Assist Station 69 with Traffic Control

Saturday, March 2, 2013 09:55 Station 57 Fire Police were dispatched to assist Station 69 with traffic control @ W. High and Berks Streets for a vehicle with injuries. Traffic 57 responded and remained on location until 10:15 when the assignment was recalled. 

   


 

Vehicle in 7-11 @ 1057 W High St

Friday, March 1, 2013 15:00 Station 57 was dispatched for a vehicle into a building @ the 7-11 located at 1057 W. High St. Crews assisted with debris and fluid control while Fire Police assist with traffic control in the area . Deputy Chief 57 recalled the assignment @ 15:40.  

   


 

Carbon Monoxide Detector @ 519 W Race St

Sunday, February 24, 2013 15:37 Station 57 was dispatched for a Carbon Monoxide Alarm @ 519 W. Race St. Crews arrived on location and found high levels of Carbon Monoxide in the basement. Crews ventilated the building. Chief 57 recalled the assignment @ 16:58.

   


 

Squad Company 57 assists EMS with Lifting

Saturday, February 23, 2013 850 Station 57 was dispatched to assist Medic 329 with lifting. Squad Company 57 responded from the PECO Days training and assisted Medic 329 with lifting and returned to the PECO Days Training.  

   


 

Members Attend Annual PECO Days Training

Saturday, February 23, 2013 07:00 Members from Station 57 attended the annual PECO Days training on Saturday @ Pottstown Middle School. Members attend Hazardous Materials Operations Refresher training as well as other training seminars that were held through out the day.  

   


 

Fire Police Assist Berks Station 49

Tuesday, February 19, 2013 17:14 Station 57 Fire Police were dispatched to assist Station 49 and Station 6 with traffic control at the scene of a vehicle accident. Traffic 57 responded and remained on location 18:20.

   


 

Reported Structure Fire @ Continental Concrete

Friday, February 15, 2013 17:58 Station 57 was dispatched for a reported structure fire @ Continental Concrete. Assistant 57 arrived to find a smoke condition in the area. Engine 57 arrived and the crew forced entry into the structure and found a heater that malfunction had causing the smoke condition in the building. Crew from the Engine 57 checked the entire building upon the arrival of the property maintenance. The crew from Engine 57 found no other problems within the property, Assistant 57 recalled the assignment @ 18:37 hours.

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 19:00 This evening members spent time reviewing the location of all the equipment on Squad Company 57. Members spent time getting familiar with where equipment is located as well as what situations we would utilize the various equipment.

Sunday, February 10, 2013   ... FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 10 AM EST MONDAY...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 10 AM EST MONDAY.

* LOCATIONS... THE PHILADELPHIA FAR NORTHWEST SUBURBS AND BERKS COUNTY NORTH THROUGH THE LEHIGH VALLEY AND SOUTHERN POCONOS IN PENNSYLVANIA AND ALL OF NORTHWEST AND THE WESTERN RARITAN RIVER BASIN IN NEW JERSEY.

* HAZARD TYPES... FREEZING RAIN.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS... UP TO ONE TENTH OF AN INCH ICE ACCUMULATION LIKELY ON EXPOSED SURFACES.

* TIMING... FREEZING RAIN SHOULD OVERSPREAD THE AREA FROM WEST TO EAST BETWEEN 3 AM AND 6 AM MONDAY MORNING. AS WARMER AIR MOVES IN AT THE SURFACE, THE FREEZING RAIN SHOULD CHANGE TO RAIN IN MOST AREAS BETWEEN 8 AM AND 10 AM MONDAY MORNING. THE CHANGE TO PLAIN RAIN WILL TAKE THE LONGEST IN THE POCONOS AND FAR NORTHWEST NEW JERSEY.

* IMPACTS... UNTREATED ROADWAYS, ESPECIALLY BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES WILL BECOME EXTREMELY SLIPPERY. EXPECT LONGER COMMUTING TIMES DURING THE MORNING RUSH.

* WINDS... SOUTHEAST 5 TO 10 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES... STARTING AROUND 30 DEGREES AND RISING TO THE MID 30S AROUND THE MIDDLE OF MONDAY MORNING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
